Waffles 101
Where do I start? There are countless websites on the internet with recipes for waffles...Belgian, classic, chocolate...etc. Every recipe comes with reviews on both ends of the spectrum. So how do you know which recipe is best? It really is up to your personal taste. Do you like your waffles crispy or spongy? Do you like them on the sweeter side? Once you determine what you like, you can find the recipe that fits your tastes. Today, I would like to share my Beligian Waffle recipe with you. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar*
3-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 large eggs, separated
1-1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat your waffle iron. Combine flour, sugar, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, lightly beat egg yolks and add the melted butter, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Stir the wet ingredients until combined and gently mix into the dry ingredients. Finally, beat the egg whites until still peaks are formed and fold into the batter. Follow the manufacturers directions of your waffle iron. Makes 8-10 waffles.
*Before starting to mix your dry ingredients, determine what toppings you will be using. The sweeter the topping, the less sugar is needed.
